Troubleshooting Excessive Pressure Drop in Piping
Pipe diameter, elbows, joints and filters are the four major sources.
First measure the differential between compressor discharge and end-of-line pressure to locate the section; then check undersized pipes, excessive elbows and leaking joints; finally verify filter differential pressures. Field experience shows that correcting undersized sections and redundant elbows typically reduces system pressure drop by over 0.05 MPa.
